On another note, I find a question like this to just spawn "I'm more jungle than you" type attitudes. Not that I am saying that that is what's going on. I just don't think that anyone can give an answer this question. On a worldwide scale nothing is really dead, but relative to what the local scene is like where you live, every place gives a different impression.

Jungle's not dead (yet), there's a whole slew of people pushing a sound that may be similar to dnb, but is definately not drum and bass. I'm one of em! Keep the beats dirty, the drums mashed and the wobble to a minimum.

I don't dislike dnb... I just prefer the older sound. I try to pay my respect to the oldschool styles but keep it all fresh and heavy as hell.

jungle and dnb are interchangeable, but its more than semantics.

ive had the debate with ppl into this shit longer than i, and im a decade deep, and theyll initially all say jungle and dnb are the same and then when asked to provide a timeline of the birth of jungle out of hardcore and how we got to where we are at now, every single one of them lists jungle and dnb as seperate, tho interchangeable and overlapping.

nevertheless.

mashed breaks and big low end subs and hoovers will always trump a steppy beat and a pussy wobble.

If you're suggesting that I spin jump up, you're way off, as you should be able to tell from my top 10 and 5. However, I don't bash other people's tastes in jungle/dnb. If someone likes jump up that's thats their right, what do I care. All musical styles progress and change with the times. Bashing other people's taste in music amounts to a self percieved elitist status. And to percieve everything that isn't what you like as wobble it kind of ignorant. But this isn't a thread about personal tastes or a debate of the term jungle.

if i wanted to call you out for liking shit music, i would. if youre touchy abouy what you love, so be it - but dont assume what i say when not directly addressing you is directed at you. im too old to not say what i mean to whom i mean it.

back to topic:

drum.n.bass is not dead.
