I dont like the direction dnb has gone in the past few years but I find now many producers are feeling the same way and reverting back to the old skool... I'm loving that. I find DnB had evolved too much too fast and in my personal opinion the evolution of it started to kill it. Even purchasing records for me .. I've always like the later 90's and up to 2002 ... I dont purchase anything past 2002 as the sound of dnb changed too much for my likeness. DNB peaked and leaked into the mainstream and in most cases is a good thing ... but for some reason it was not good for the DNB industry.

I think dubwise is cool shit, and therefore, dnb isn't dead to me. I still prefer mashed amen jungle to bass heavy dnb though.

i sure hope DNB is dead. i heart dead things.

mainstream DNB would be like Pendulum according to Wikipedia. DNB is established, its not the latest craze or anything. heavier forms of electronic still grow, but in the underground where they belong. Grime and Dubstep are more the current thing in UK i guess. musical genres dont really die. like rock n roll isnt dead, nor is jazz. they just find there place in the world, they are not a nu sound to explore, they are just a differant type of expression or a differant type of gathering or crowd. like what differance does it make? "is DNB dead"? like what does that mean? is it the newest, coolest thing? it will be dead when nobody creates it, and all the existing music is wiped off the earth, and everyone who remembers its name is dead. then it will be dead and we will all be cured of this sikness.

Jungle is dead in Toronto at the moment in my opinion. the scene is garbage right now. Although production wise there are some good acts coming from the city

"mainstream DNB would be like Pendulum according to Wikipedia"

You needed to look on Wiki to find out about DnB?

The terms Jungle and Drum & Bass are interchangeable in my opinion. As far as "jungle" goes if you want to separate the two, I would probably reserve the term for pre-2000 although the sound started to change around 1998, I think it die out at the turn of the millenium; however I can think of a few producers that still push a "junglesque" sound such as Theory, Serum, Bladerunner, Gremlinz, Stranjah etc. I think all the drumfunk stuff like Paradox, Seba and the like are pretty close to that sound. Its just evolution that's all, that's why "jungle" is dead. Its just all a matter of semantics.
